Enquanto a 27ª edição do Critics Choice Awards celebrou o melhor da televisão e do cinema, “Ataque dos Cães” e “Ted Lasso” de Jane Campion lideraram os vencedores da noite com quatro troféus cada. “Succession”, “Belfast” e “Duna” levaram para casa três prêmios cada.
Apresentada por Taye Diggs e Nicole Byer, a cerimônia de 2022 foi transmitida ao vivo pela TNT apresentado por Michel Arouca e Aline Diniz. À medida que a noite se desenrolava com celebrações realizadas em Los Angeles e Londres, quando o Critics Choice Association (CCA) adicionou vídeo conferencia via satélite para incluir os indicados que também participaram do BAFTA. A parte de Los Angeles da cerimônia é realizada no Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, enquanto as estrelas se reúnem para um evento noturno no Savoy Hotel, em Londres.
Nomes como Lady Gaga (Casa Gucci), Kristen Stewart (Spencer), Olivia Colman (A Filha Perdida) e Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) concorriam à estatueta de melhor atriz, conquistada por Jessica Chastain (Os Olhos de Tammy Faye).
Entre os atores, Will Smith (King Richard: Criando Campeãs) levou a melhor na disputa com Benedict Cumberbatch (Ataque dos Cães), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick…Boom), Peter Dinklage (Cyrano), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth) e Nicolas Cage (Pig).
Com o longa “Ataque dos Cães“, Jane Campion faturou quatro prêmios (Melhor Filme, Melhor Direção, Melhor Roteiro Adaptado e Melhor Fotografia), consagrando o filme como o favorito da temporada. Outro destaque foi “Duna”, que faturou três troféus (Melhor Trilha Sonora Original, Melhor Design de Produção e Melhores Efeitos Visuais).
